A Wet Morning with the Fuji X-T2

Saturday Morning – January 21, 2017

I woke up really early Saturday morning (like 4:30 – 5:0am) to attend this sunrise photography workshop at the Martin Luther King Memorial, overlooking the tidal basin with Oliver.

Little did I know, the person that planned the event canceled the workshop at midnight, by the time I was already in bed. I didn’t find out about this until I was already on the road en-route to the city.

“Fuck it…might as well go anyways,” I said to myself as I started to text Oliver to give him a heads up.

We both showed up, Oliver trailing a little after 6:30am and had both of our tripods setup, getting ready for the “golden hour”.

But the sky was filled with heavy fog and we didn’t see any sunrise glow at all. What shit is this?

There was seriously not much happening, but I took the opportunity to teach Oliver how to compose and setup his camera, that way he can do this on his own when he goes to New Zealand during his honeymoon.

I made the trip back home to make it to this 10:30 am workshop in Reston and meet up with Ben there.

I had an hour before the workshop so I stopped by Ace Photo and decided to pick up a Pansonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 prime lens for my new Olympus OM-D E-M10.

Here is how our plans changed…

What I didn’t realize that the “workshop” was actually a powerpoint lecture instead of a hands on class.

Yeah – I’m not going.

So instead, Ben and I decided to do a photowalk in Reston Town Center and traded cameras for some street photography.

Ben’s new Fuji X-T2 is definitely one of my favorite cameras I’ver ever played with and it was one of those cameras that inspired you to go out and shoot.

Below are a few pictures I’ve taken using the X-T2 with the XF 35 f/2 WR lens :

Street photography is something I have a keen eye for and thanks to the Fuji’s subtle shutter click, fast auto-focus and snappy shutter reset, I was able to quickly freeze what my eyes saw in that very moment.

Very nice camera and I wouldn’t be surprised if I add a Fuji camera in my collection one day…
