Company Happy Hour

Being part of the company’s care committee (we organize and run all the social and charitable events in the company), we decided to put together a company happy hour to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and March Madness.

Obviously since I was the official company photographer, I had my trusty Olympus PEN-F handy, mated with the 17mm f/1.8 (34mm equivalent on a full-frame).

All photos were taken straight out of the camera:

Like any pub/bar, the lighting wasn’t ideal as I was shooting between f/1.8 and f/5.6 with the shutter hover under 1/20th. I was afraid that despite the PEN-F’s amazing 5 axis image stabilization, the pictures might come out blurry. Luckily they pictures came out clean and the PEN-F’s Monochrome Profile 2 made the pictures turn out way better than I expected. I love how the contrast and the grain looks.

The portraits came out great despite using a “wide angle” lens like the Olympus 17mm f/1.8. The lens is a fantastic street camera but not ideal for portraits.

I can’t complain with results like these if you’re close enough to the subject:

As you can tell, I love to take candid moments – Documenting humanity so to speak.
